Almost all utils built for 10.20 will run on 11.00, and most programs built for 11.00 will perfectly run on 11.11.

The tcsh ports here have small modifications from me: default is 'vi' instead of that horrible 'emacs', '.' first in $PATH is enabled - be sure to disable that in your personal settings, a =- hack enables '=-' to use it for "previous dir" everywhere in the command-line, so I can do less =-/xyzz<tab> for completion of files in the previous folder.

Files with no extension are plain executables. Just move them to the name you prefer
Files with .tgz extension are tar gzip. Extract like # gzip -d <foo-x.y.tgz | tar xvf -
Files with .tbz extension are tar bzip2. Extract like # bzip2 -d <foo-x.y.tbz | tar xvf -
Files with .sd.bz extension are software depots compressed with bzip2. Uncompress like # bzip2 -d foo-x.y.sd.bz ; swinstall -s `pwd`/foo-x.y.sd foo
